Slimline tanks (600 to 900 mm wide, up to 3,000 litres) are designed specifically for these spaces, sitting flush against the wall and capturing downpipe water from that side of the roof.

Underground tanks: For properties where above-ground space is limited or visual impact is a concern. Requires excavation, structural pit lining, and submersible pump installation. More expensive than above-ground options but preserves yard space entirely.

Connecting Rainwater to House Plumbing, The Licensed Plumber Requirement

While anyone can install a standalone tank for garden watering with a gravity-fed tap, connecting rainwater to internal house plumbing, toilets, laundry, hot water, is regulated plumbing work in Queensland.
