Central Gold Coast (Southport, Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach, Nerang, Ashmore) is typically 30–60 minutes. We tell you the fee upfront on the phone, before we roll. Once on-site we diagnose the fault and give you a fixed-price quote for the repair itself — you decide whether to proceed before we start work. No surprises. After-hours and weekend rates are higher than standard business-hours rates, and we'll always tell you which rate applies.

What actually counts as a plumbing emergency?

Accepted Answer

Anything that's causing water damage right now, cutting off essential services, or creating a safety hazard: burst pipes and active leaks, blocked toilets in a single-toilet home, complete loss of hot water in cold weather, sewer backing up into the house or yard, gas leaks (any smell of gas is an emergency), overflowing gutters flooding into the eaves, and active roof leaks during storms. Slow drips, cosmetic issues, and one dripping tap where you have other working taps are usually not emergencies and can wait for a scheduled visit at standard rates — we'll tell you honestly on the phone which category your problem falls into.

Do you handle after-hours roof leaks and storm damage too?

Yes — we're one of the few Gold Coast contractors licensed for both plumbing and roofing, which matters in a storm. When rain is pouring in, you don't have time to call three different trades. We attend after hours for active roof leaks, storm-lifted or missing sheeting, dislodged ridge caps, wind-blown tree impact, and overflowing box gutters. Where a permanent repair isn't safe or possible in the dark or during active weather, we install emergency tarping to make the property watertight, then return in daylight for the permanent repair. What should I do while I'm waiting for the plumber?

For a burst pipe or major leak: turn off your water at the mains — the meter box is usually at the front boundary or side of the property; the tap turns clockwise to shut off. For a hot water system leak: turn off the isolation valve on the cold-water inlet to the tank, and if it's an electric system, switch off the hot water circuit at the switchboard. For any smell of gas: don't switch anything on or off (no lights, no phones near the leak), turn the gas off at the meter or bottle if you can do so safely, open windows, get outside, and call us — for a life-threatening leak also call 000 or Origin Energy Gas Leaks 1800 GAS LEAK. For an active roof leak: put buckets under the drip, move electronics and furniture clear, and take photos for your insurance claim.
