Electric, gas, continuous flow, heat pump, and solar hot water systems — supplied, installed, and commissioned by a licensed Gold Coast plumber and gas fitter. Government rebates applied at point of sale.
Hot water system installation on the Gold Coast covers five system types: electric storage ($1,200–$2,500 installed), gas storage ($1,500–$3,000), gas continuous flow ($1,800–$3,500), heat pump ($2,500–$4,500 before STC rebates of $500–$1,000), and solar hot water ($3,500–$6,000 before STC rebates of $800–$1,500). Heat pump systems are the most energy-efficient choice for the Gold Coast's subtropical climate, operating at 3–4× the efficiency of standard electric by extracting heat from ambient air. Gas continuous flow provides unlimited hot water on demand for larger families. All hot water system installation in Queensland must be performed by a licensed plumber, with gas connections requiring a licensed gas fitter. Properr Plumbing & Roofing (QBCC Licence 15085071) holds both plumbing and gas fitting licences and provides hot water installation across Coomera, Helensvale, Southport, Surfers Paradise, Robina, Burleigh Heads, Palm Beach, Mudgeeraba, Nerang, Tweed Heads, Beenleigh, Logan, and 20+ additional suburbs.
Every system type — supplied, installed, and commissioned with government rebates applied where eligible.

Hot water accounts for approximately 25% of household energy consumption in Australia — second only to heating and cooling. The choice of hot water system has a direct and ongoing impact on your energy bills for the next 10–20 years. On the Gold Coast, the subtropical climate provides unique advantages for certain system types — particularly heat pumps and solar — that operate more efficiently in warm ambient conditions than they do in cooler southern states.
A heat pump hot water system works like a reverse-cycle air conditioner in reverse — it extracts heat from the ambient air and transfers it to the water in the storage tank via a refrigerant cycle. For every 1 kW of electrical energy consumed, a heat pump produces 3–4 kW of heat energy — making it 3–4 times more efficient than a standard electric element that converts 1 kW of electricity to 1 kW of heat. On the Gold Coast, where ambient temperatures rarely drop below 10°C even in winter, heat pumps operate at peak efficiency year-round. Annual running costs for a heat pump are typically $200–$400 compared to $600–$1,000 for electric storage and $400–$700 for gas.
Heat pump systems are eligible for government STC rebates that reduce the upfront cost by $500–$1,000, making them cost-competitive with gas systems at the point of purchase while delivering significantly lower running costs over the system's 10–15 year lifespan.
Gas continuous flow (instantaneous) systems heat water on demand as it flows through the unit — there's no storage tank and therefore no standby heat loss. When a hot tap is opened, the unit fires its gas burners and heats the water to the set temperature as it passes through the heat exchanger. When the tap is closed, the unit shuts off. The result is unlimited hot water — the unit never runs out because it heats water as needed rather than storing a finite volume. This makes continuous flow systems ideal for larger families, homes with multiple bathrooms in simultaneous use, and properties with high peak demand.
A failed hot water system is one of the most urgent non-emergency plumbing situations — a household without hot water for showers, hand washing, and cleaning is a significant disruption. We provide same-day emergency hot water system replacement across the Gold Coast. If your system has failed and cannot be repaired (leaking tank, failed heating element with no stock, gas valve failure), we can supply and install a replacement system — typically within 4–8 hours of your call during business hours.
